National Whistleblower Day is an annual celebration commemorating the contributions of whistleblowers around the world who have bravely stepped forward to expose waste, fraud and abuse.
ACCO Executive Director Gretchen Peters, who is leading a team of whistleblowers that filed a complaint to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) about rampant organized criminal activity on Facebook, will be moderating a virtual panel at the event. It features a wide range of speeches including lawmakers, renowned whistleblowers, policy-makers, and advocates, as well as a series of panels on pressing whistleblower issues. The tech panel Gretchen is hosting also features ACCO member Katie Paul, discussing her work to track online extremism, and Ifeoma Ozoma, a former Pinterest employee who blew the whistle on civil rights abuses at the firm, and then worked to pass a California law freeing workers from Non Disclosure Agreements.
This event is free and will be complimented by a community blog, interactive components, and giveaways for guests who have RSVP’ed. Registration is now closed.
SEND US A CONFIDENTIAL TIP
ACCO experts have filed a civil complaint against Facebook Inc for hosting illicit content on its family of platforms. Our case argues that Facebook has knowingly released and marketed dangerous products, and continues to knowingly mislead lawmakers, regulators and investors about its capacity and intent to remove and report on dangerous crime occurring on its platforms. Do you, or did you, work at Facebook? If you have specific information about this issue, we’d love to hear from you. Under U.S. Whistleblower Law, your identity can remain 100% anonymous.
